Inspired by The Museum of Modern Art’s signature color palette, this collaboration honors a landmark children’s product recognized in MoMA’s collection.
New York, NY – October 5, 2026 – Stokke, the renowned Scandinavian brand behind the iconic Tripp Trapp® chair, is excited to introduce the limited-edition Tripp Trapp® Chair MoMA Edition, a collaboration with The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). The Tripp Trapp® Chair MoMA Edition celebrates more than 50 years of timeless design, family connection and the legacy of the iconic Tripp Trapp® chair, available in limited quantities.
Designed by Peter Opsvik in 1972, the Tripp Trapp® chair revolutionized children’s seating by bringing little ones to the table. The Tripp Trapp® chair creates space for family conversation, connection, and shared experiences from the very beginning. This philosophy, that thoughtful design can strengthen everyday family bonds, continues to define Stokke today. More than five decades later, Tripp Trapp® remains a global design icon, earning its place in millions of homes worldwide. This collaboration with MoMA brings together two brands, united by a shared belief that great design can enrich everyday life.
“The Tripp Trapp® chair has always been about more than creating a beautiful piece of furniture, it was designed to change the way families connect,” said Martha Jørgenvåg, VP of Innovation at Stokke. “It brings children to the table, inviting them to participate in everyday moments that shape family life. This collaboration celebrates that legacy while reinforcing our belief that thoughtful design has the power to bring generations together.”
Drawing inspiration from MoMA’s signature color palette, the Tripp Trapp® Chair MoMA Edition honors Peter Opsvik’s original design through bold yet timeless color combinations.
More than a chair, it is a piece of design history, celebrated with interchangeable colors and signature details that bring museum-worthy design into everyday family life. Reversible seat- and footplates can be mixed and matched to create up to four unique looks while preserving the chair’s iconic silhouette, finished with subtle Stokke® and MoMA logos alongside Opsvik’s signature.
Each chair is an iconic, timeless design piece. Revolutionary in form, it grows with the child to support them through every stage of childhood.
“At MoMA Design Store, we believe in products that seamlessly unite exceptional design with everyday life. Inspired by MoMA’s color palette, this chair pays tribute to a landmark children’s product in MoMA’s collection, celebrating its enduring legacy while bringing a new expression of this beloved icon to families today. It’s a collaboration that reflects our shared belief that good design is for everyday living,” said Jesse Goldstine, Chief Retail Officer at MoMA.
Crafted from FSC-certified European beechwood, the Tripp Trapp® chair embodies revolutionary, timeless Scandinavian design. The chair that grows with the child: adjustable seat and footplate positions provide ergonomic support, while compatibility with the Newborn Set and Baby Set allows the chair to be used from birth. Completing the collection is the Tripp Trapp® Cushion MoMA Edition, inspired by the same color palette and compatible with every Tripp Trapp® chair.
The Tripp Trapp® Chair MoMA Edition will be available beginning of October, starting at $399 with the Tripp Trapp® Cushion MoMA Edition available separately for $79. The collection will be available at Stokke.com, MoMA Design Store and select retailers while supplies last. The partnership was brought together by MoMA’s licensing agency, IMG Licensing.
