Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory Lego Technic Kit Launched

Ducati's first motocross bike is heading to toy shelves as a 457-piece Lego Technic model complete with suspension and a moving engine.

Ducati's push into motocross has taken another step off the beaten track, as the Italian firm's new Desmo450 MX is heading to toy shops in the form of a new Lego Technic set.

The new kit recreates the Ducati Desmo450 MX in miniature form, with Lego opting for the full factory race bike rather than the road-going machines that usually dominate its motorcycle range.

Made up of 457 pieces and aimed at builders aged 10 and above, the set includes working steering via oversized handlebars, front and rear suspension and a single-cylinder engine driven by a chain connected to the rear wheel. In other words, all the bits you'd expect from a Technic motorcycle model are present and accounted for.

The choice of bike is perhaps the biggest surprise. While Lego has previously partnered with Ducati on models such as the Panigale V4 R, the Desmo450 MX only recently arrived in dealerships as Ducati's first-ever production motocross machine. Powered by its distinctive desmodromic single-cylinder engine, the real bike produces 63.5bhp and marks Borgo Panigale's first serious move into the world of motocross racing.
